In 2006, the wildly successful Icelandic band Sigur Ros returned from touring the world to play a series of free, unannounced concerts across their native country.
Heima records these performances, making it a combination concert film and travel documentary. Their music fits the raw landscape perfectly, down to the midget horses and the hand-knit woolens that wrap half the audience.
Sigur Ros have been one of our favorites for a long time. I don't know of many bands that can combine sheer power with ethereal beauty like they do. Seeing them in concert is staggering. (Our daughter Ivy went to her first show at -3 months.)
